Welcome to the 60's

Emily and I are currently obsessed (OBSESSED!) with the movie Hairspray.  We listen to the soundtrack anytime we're in the kitchen (so that's at least three full listenings a day) and we dance around the house all day long.  The most interesting side effect has been the hairstyles.  She asks to have hair like the characters when she goes to school.  "Inez" hair wasn't that hard- two little pigtails and round bangs - but I was really worried about "Amber" hair.  I searched youtube for a how-to beehive video (and found one, thanks America) and printed step-by-step instructions from a UK website (cheers, mates).

Here's the practice hairstyle from last night.  It's hard to see the beehive in this photo but it will be one of my all-time favorites anyway.  That's because I think the apron and chicken leg really complete the look.

This morning after getting dressed (Emily, not me) I spent 45 minutes trying to inject the just right volume into her hair.

How many four-year-olds show up to preschool with a Beehive?  Her teacher must think I'm nuts.  That's OK.  I am.

I love the hair!! I think that first picture is my all time favorite picture of Emily. Will you do my hair in a beehive next time I see you?

You are such a good Mom. I don't know many women that spend 15 minutes doing their kid's hair for school, let alone 45! It turned out so cute. What a personality on that one!

Just so you know, it usually takes me a month to spend 45 minutes on all three girls' hairdos. No one will ever sit still! This was a big deal for our house.
