Welcome to the 60's

Emily and I are currently obsessed (OBSESSED!) with the movie Hairspray.  We listen to the soundtrack anytime we're in the kitchen (so that's at least three full listenings a day) and we dance around the house all day long.  The most interesting side effect has been the hairstyles.  She asks to have hair like the characters when she goes to school.  "Inez" hair wasn't that hard- two little pigtails and round bangs - but I was really worried about "Amber" hair.  I searched youtube for a how-to beehive video (and found one, thanks America) and printed step-by-step instructions from a UK website (cheers, mates).

Here's the practice hairstyle from last night.  It's hard to see the beehive in this photo but it will be one of my all-time favorites anyway.  That's because I think the apron and chicken leg really complete the look.

This morning after getting dressed (Emily, not me) I spent 45 minutes trying to inject the just right volume into her hair.

How many four-year-olds show up to preschool with a Beehive?  Her teacher must think I'm nuts.  That's OK.  I am.

Bate, Bate, Chocolate

Tonight Molly made her own chocolate milk.  I think she was disappointed that she had to add any milk.  Check out the proportions.  Yum!

Girls, Girls, Girls

Here's cute Heidi hanging out on a snow saucer.  I love the fact that she has snow boots and that her mittens are velcroed on the outside of her jacket.  You have to keep warm somehow.

Molly is REALLY into Cinderella these days.  We borrowed a movie from a friend's house called Cinderella II: Dreams Come True.  Molly wants to watch it every day and always calls the movie by it's entire title.  This cracks me up.

For some strange reason that I will not question and be eternally thankful for, Emily loves mopping.  She does not love getting her pants wet though and has decided that the best way to avoid this is to take her pants OFF when she mops.  It's OK with me.  I'm happy to have a great helper no matter what she's wearing (or not wearing).

Molly's Surgery

Here's a picture of Molly at 6 a.m. just before leaving for the surgery center.  That's strange. Neither one of us looks so jazzed to be awake.

Here's a picture of Molly WITHOUT her adenoids.  She may have been grouchy in photo #1 but in this one she was just totally dazed.  Luckily the anesthesia has worn off and she is MUCH nicer that now she's adenoid free.  She actually slept through the night four nights in a row.  In previous months she'd sleep through the night four times all month if we were lucky.  Here's to a speedy recovery cute Molls!

The rest of the year . . .

December went by waaaaaay too quickly.  Here are some of my favorite photos from Christmas break.

Heidi is thinking of being sneaky.

Emily and Laurie on top of the ice snow fort at Grandma Martha's house.  Emily wanted to put lots of icicles on the fort to, as she explained, make it look "expensive."  I'm in trouble.

Here's Molly conked out on the couch on New Year's Eve.  She actually fell asleep at the dinner table.  I guess she was celebrating for London.

Molly wanted to share in the snow angel fun with P, the bear.  Can you see his tiny angel wings?
